Update: April 13, 2010
Spot LLC has worked diligently to replace any affected SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger (SPOT 2) inventory (ESN number equal to or between 0-8000000 and 0-8053925) with proper upgrade units at all retail locations. To verify that the SPOT 2 found in store has been upgraded, simply look at the white sticker on the bottom of the box. The ESN number displayed should read 0-8053926 or higher.
Updated Important Notice: If you have a SPOT 2 unit with an ESN number equal to or between
0-8000000 and
0-8053925, please complete the simple Product Return Form below to return your SPOT 2 unit for replacement. All units need to be returned for replacement and to be eligible you need to fill out the form below before March 31st, 2010.
Spot LLC is dedicated to providing the highest quality and best performance products to our customers, therefore, Spot LLC is conducting a product return on the new SPOT Satellite GPS Messengers™ (SPOT 2) purchased since October 1, 2009. During recent testing, we discovered that these SPOT 2 devices may not meet battery and messaging operating specifications. We were not 100% satisfied with the performance of this unit.
The Exchange Process
- Replacement units are anticipated to be available in early 2010. More details to follow.
- When you exchange your eligible unit, you will receive a service extension.*
- If you already activated your SPOT 2 unit, we will extend the renewal date of your service account for 3-months.
- If you have not activated your SPOT 2 unit, we will extend the service contract for 1-month upon activation of your replacement SPOT 2 unit.
- Once exchanged, you will receive your replacement SPOT-2 unit.
- Please follow this process to receive your return shipping materials (when using supplied materials, postage will be paid by SPOT LLC). These will be sent to you upon completion of the form.
- Ship only your SPOT-2 unit and take out batteries prior to shipping.
This does not affect SPOT Satellite Personal Tracker (SPOT-1) nor is it an upgrade program to transition from SPOT Satellite Personal Tracker (SPOT-1) to the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger (SPOT-2).

APPLICABLE TO QUALIFYING SPOT SATELLITE GPS MESSENGERS (SPOT 2)
Product Return (Applicable to Customers that already activated their SPOT 2 units): You must complete the registration at www.findmespot.com/exchange and follow SPOT Return Program Guidelines. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer geo-location information from ESN# to ESN#. Spot LLC is not responsible for any data loss. Once you complete the registration, you will be forwarded shipping material. Please follow the instructions contained in this letter. You will be sent a replacement SPOT 2 Messenger (repaired and or in new or like new condition) as soon as one is available. Spot LLC has chosen to self insure the shipment of your messenger, and will assume the risk of loss for any messengers lost during shipment. Service Credit: If you activated service for your SPOT 2 by December 14, 2010, then Spot LLC will extend all active services to which you have subscribed by an additional three (3) months at no cost to you (e.g. a 12 month service contract will be extended to 15 months and a 24 month service contract will be extended to 27 months). The service credit is applicable only to active service contracts for impacted SPOT 2 units only, and may not be refunded in cash. After receipt of the impacted SPOT 2, Spot LLC will automatically apply the applicable service extension to your account with no further action from you. No service extension will be provided to non-impacted SPOT devices owned by you. Your service is still subject to Spot’s standard terms and conditions. After the initial term ends, your service will renew for the standard term unless canceled by you. This service credit is available to any customer that registers for the SPOT Product Return Program by March 31, 2010. Please call 1 (866) 727-7733 if you have questions.
